Floating slurry pipeline and process pipelines
Floating tubes are applied to slurry transportation (water and soil mixture or the rock obtained in the course of excavations and mining operations by a jetting method) from the suction-tube dredger or other hydrotechnical equipment to a discharge point (reclamation area).
The slurry pipelines allow realizing operational manipulation by the suction-tube dredger during its production cycle.
The process pipelines are those of the production enterprises by which there are transported raw materials, half stuffs and finished products, steam, water, combustibles, reagents, and other materials ensuring execution of a process and maintenance of the equipment, and also used reagents and gases, the various intermediate products obtained or used in the process, and production wastes.
Depending on their arrangement in an industrial facility, process pipelines are subdivided into intrashop pipelines connecting assemblies and machines of process plants of the shop, and intershop pipelines connecting process plants of different shops. Intrashop pipelines are named manifold pipelines if they are installed immediately within separate apparatuses, pumps, compressors, etc., or connect them.
Process pipelines are divided into five classes depending on character of the transported medium, operating pressure and temperature. The pipeline class is set by the project.

1. Floating slurry pipelines:
FLOATING SLURRY PIPELINES WITH INTEGRAL WOUND FLOAT
This design of the flexible slurry pipeline is recommended to be applied in tailing dumps together with diesel-driven suction-tube dredgers. Buoyancy of the slurry pipeline is ensured by integral wound floats with an external protective coating of a safety color. Slurry pipelines allow to transport abrasive slurry over the water surface (a slurry and high-abrasive materials, service water, sludge and small-size washery refuses) from the suction-tube dredger to a shore.
Floats for flexible slurry pipelines are manufactured from materials resistant against external mechanical effects, and their flanges with vulcanized rubber eliminate the possibility of rupture of the slurry pipeline in conjunctions of its sections.
Advantages of using a floating slurry pipeline:
FLOATING SLURRY PIPELINES WITH THE PLASTIC FLOAT
It is recommended to use a floating slurry pipeline with a plastic float in tailing dumps as a part of the suction-tube dredger with electric or diesel-electric drive due to possibility of safety laying of the power cable. A floating slurry pipeline with a plastic float ensures a number of operation and technical advantages in comparison with its analogues.
The float for a slurry pipeline is manufactured of abrasive resistant plastic and has filling with foam, and their relative positioning and flexibility of the rubber pipeline allow performing manipulations with the suction-tube dredger during its production cycle. The design of the floating slurry pipeline excludes displacement of floats along the slurry pipeline.
Advantages which are reached by operation with the floating slurry pipeline:
Possibility of laying of the power cable with its reliable fixing has been provided in design of the rubber slurry pipeline on a float that is confirmed by the Decision of Federal service on ecological, technical and nuclear supervision (opinion letter No13-02-PD-01490-2009).
Use of floating slurry pipeline in tailing dumps allows costs of operation of hydraulic transport system to reduce and a process to update.
FLEXIBLE SLURRY PIPELINES FOR THE SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS
The flexible rubber slurry pipeline for the submersible pumps is used to ensure lifting soil from deep depth. Pipelines with reduced radius of curvature are necessary for suction-tube dredgers with submersible pumps. Use of highly flexible slurry pipelines allows considerably simplifying problems of soil intake in a suction-tube dredger operation. The slurry pipeline design allows repeatedly bottom and buoy up the suction head. Highly flexible pipeline sections are made from abrasive resistant rubber, the length of the slurry pipeline is up to 10 m. Depending on service conditions, and possibility of furnishing by plastic or wound floats is provided. The size of the internal abrasive resistant chamber is calculated individually depending on pumped mixture and operating pressure of the pump. Special types of the materials are used in design and production of slurry pipelines for submersible pumps allowing high flexibility of the rubber pipeline to achieve.

SUCKING SLURRY PIPELINE FOR OPERATION ON THE SUCTION-TUBE DREDGER FRAME
The drag pipe is installed on a frame of the suction-tube dredger to ensure flexibility of an intake and a soil lifting to a surface. The drag pipe design is calculated, structural materials selection and a production process parameters are selected under particular service conditions.
To provide necessary radial rigidity and stability, drag pipes are fitted with reinforcing elements which bear the main load and prevent collapse of the sucking rubber pipeline.
The drag pipe connection is carried out by means of the split flanges, bolts and screw nuts, flangeless version of the pipeline with possibility of connection by means of clamps is also possible. Reducing flanges are used in the case of misfit of jointed diameters.

FLEXIBLE INSERTIONS INSTEAD OF BALL JOINTS IN THE SLURRY PIPELINE
Flexible insertions instead of ball joints is a modern solution of problems related to ball joints in slurry pipelines. The unit is successfully applied as an elastic insertion between metal pipelines ensuring a necessary angle of rotation of slurry pipeline sections. The bending radius is calculated for flexible insertions proceeding from service conditions (constraint of a pond) and specificity of operations made.
Flexible rubber insertions are produced from abrasive resistant rubber with a inner diameter from 159 mm to 820 mm ensuring a bend angle of the slurry pipeline with respect to the pipeline axis not less than 12 ° in both sides. To reach the necessary bending angle the length of rubber insertions is calculated individually depending on service conditions.

2. Process pipelines:
FLEXIBLE DELIVERY-SUCTION PIPELINES
Flexible delivery-suction pipelines are operated in mining-and-processing integrated works, in coal processing plants, thermal power stations, in metallurgy, cement industry, and other branches. They serve for transportation of slurry and high abrasive materials, service water containing acids and alkalis, and also oil derivatives with concentration up to 20 %.
The reinforced version of rubber delivery-suction pipelines allows at high enough pressure to operate, ensures stability to collapsing, temperature both atmospheric conditions and other factors to which pipelines are exposed during operation. The abrasive resistant part of a flexible pipeline is produced from specially designed rubber mixtures. The main frame produced from a cloth and metal ensures strength of the pipeline and a uniform distribution of internal loads. The embedded metal element ensures reliable and tight joint, and an external rubber layer protects the pipeline against mechanical, chemical and adverse natural effects.

Flexible suction pipelines are operated in mining-and-processing integrated works, in coal processing plants, thermal power stations, in metallurgy, cement industry, and other branches. They are used in suction lines of pumps for transportation of abrasive mixtures and slurry by a hydraulic/pneumatic driven delivery method.
Suction pipelines work in vacuum and are one of the most critical elements of the pumping plant. The reinforced version of the rubber suction pipeline allows to operate in high enough vacuum, ensures stability to collapsing, adverse technogenic and natural effects and other factors to which pipelines are exposed during use, and also to ensure the radial rigidity and stability to collapsing. The abrasive resistant part of a flexible pipeline is produced from specially designed rubber mixtures.
